These decorated sphere segment earrings are a copy of a jewel found on the ancient beach of Herculaneum. Inspired by the goldsmith tradition of ancient Rome, they are made of 925 silver and plated with 18K gold. Their peculiarity is the sphere decorated with the embossed granulation technique, which reproduces the details of the works of art found in Herculaneum. This design adds a three-dimensional dimension and a touch of modern elegance, keeping the connection with the past alive. Historical Curiosities

The jewels of Herculaneum reflect the luxury and opulence of Roman society, particularly among the noble classes. The excavations of Herculaneum have brought to light extraordinary works of goldsmith art, which demonstrate the mastery of Roman artisans and their ability to work precious materials such as gold and silver. Unlike common jewels, those found in Herculaneum and Pompeii were often associated with important symbolic and religious meanings. Spheres and other geometric patterns were frequent in Roman jewelry and were often accompanied by complex decorations.

The women of Roman high society wore these jewels not only to show off their status, but also to protect themselves from negative energies, since many pieces had an apotropaic meaning, that is, they were intended to keep away the evil eye and evil influences.
