Collection: Pompeian and Roman Artworks
Pompeian and Roman works of art include a wide range of artistic forms, including frescoes, mosaics, sculptures and decorative objects. In Pompeii, frescoes were particularly common in homes, with representations of mythological scenes, natural landscapes and daily life. Mosaics, made with small stone or glass tiles, decorated floors and walls. Roman sculptures, often inspired by Greek models, depicted deities, emperors and mythological figures. These pieces were symbols of power, status and culture in ancient Rome.
